Welcome

Embrace it

One of the keys to happiness is to embrace the here and now. Get clear on what really is the true state of affairs. See things as they really are, take off the rose colored glasses. Embrace what is.

That doesn’t mean condone it, doesn’t mean accept it in a fatalistic way or get disheartened or even complacent. I understand you have dreams and desires and the current state is not even close to how you want things to be. You say you are committed to changing it all up and having it all, making your dreams a reality. That’s  great  and all but till you get clear on where things stand you cannot plot a course to your promised land. It is quite impossible to know what the first step should be if you don’t know where you stand.

Get clear on where you are, no matter how bad it is. I concede it will not be pleasant but it doesn’t have to be time consuming and anymore painful than absolutely necessary.

Once you are clear, Let it be. That’s right ” let it be”. Focus on what you want instead. Create in great detail your desired outcome. Make a picture in your mind, view it as you would a real photograph. give it detail and definition, deepen and accentuate the colors, include others who are likely to share in that moment. create the background and the setting, even the time of day and a date when this will happen.

now make a movie out of it by adding motion and sounds, see your self in the movie and experience the moment, do it again and again.

Now plan your strategy to attain this goal and take the first step.

If you want guidance and support contact, we have what it takes to get you to where you want.

Good Friends

Who do you consider a good friend?

Why? Is it because they  listen to you and not offer advise, or always agree with you? Is it because they challenge you?

Beware of  people that always agree, they will not cause you to look at yourself and give you an opportunity to evaluate established beliefs and patterns and to challenge Status Quo. They will deprive you of an opportunity to grow.

Seek out people that accept who you are today but relate to the promise you hold within yourself.

Sow Now

Nurture and expand your network now, especially if you are still gainfully employed.
Yes, many others are also working on their Linkedin Profile, their Plaxo listing and sending out Resumes. You may be surprised how many are not or are not doing a good job at it.

Try calling 2 or 4 (or 15) people each day, even before you send them and let’s connect email thru Linkedin or Plaxo or Facebook etc.

Once they accept the connection write them a short note, thank them and give them a short update, inquire about them. Most people are not following up and actually connecting with the new connection, they are not leveraging it.

Offer to help, volunteer or consult. Form or join a group, meetup and support others, allow others to support you.

If you are in the market for new gig, consider giving away your experties for free, pick a worthy cause or a company that intrests you and offer them your services for free.  Don’t extend your offer to the Receptionist or the HR generalist insted identify someone high up in the food chain.

Front Line = Bottom line

these are difficult times if you own or run any kind of business, especially a retail business. Inspite of how difficult it is to get customers spending, even today many businesses do not understand or implement the very basics needed to make their customers feel welcomed and have a enjoyable experience while spending their money purchasing your goods and services.

Focus on what will impact customer experience and will not cost you anything extra. Focus on your frontline, the people that are the face of your company. The employees you have hired that look the customer in the eye or answer the phones with a smile.

Most business do not have the eye contact or smile onthe phone conversation as a part of basic training and ongoing expectation of their employees.

Culture comes top down and there are many good examples of this. Jet Blue and Safeway are two such companies.  then there is that Pizza parlor and the asian resturant, that cleaner and that dentist I drive past on my way to get dinner and pick up my laundry, or get my teeth cleaned, I just ignore them and their coupons, door hangers and their direct mail.

They all have missed the opportunity to win my loyalty and ensure an ongoing access to my money when that had me standing in their doors.

Large and small businesses must focus on client experience each and everytime or else the writing is on the wall.

big picture

In the larger scheme of things today will not matter.

Let me explain, we all have the power to blunt the impact of whatever seem to be a “big problem” or is a distraction today in our life or business. Just as long as we have a plan and focused, a long-term plan and do what ever is next that is needed to achieve the goals outlined in it. The plan has to be comprehensive and designed from a place of power vs. a short term fix it to some undesirable situation. Tune out the nay sayers and the purveyors of doom and gloom. Focus on the next step and do what is need to be done to acheive it.

Bottom line - Manage your Focus, take action (no matter how small) and pay attention to the results.

Impossible Is Inspiration

Impossible is just a big word thrown around by small men who find it easier to live in the world they’ve been given than to explore the power they have to change it.

Impossible is not a fact.

It’s an opinion.

Impossible is not a declaration.

It’s a dare.

Impossible is potential.

Impossible is temporary.

Impossible is nothing.

Screen savers and wall papers, photoshopped images and youtube videos abound. It inspires people of all ages, several write their stories on the Addidas site every day, even today.

I too find inspiration in these words and read them with my9 month old son, he will understand them someday.
